About GIDA (Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority)
GIDA is industrial area of Gorakhpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is fast developing an industrial area abbreviated as GIDA with many factories, including IGL, Parle and ARP, as well as power looms, plywood and the only jute mill in Uttar Pradesh.
Gorakhpur is steeped in legend lore and history. It has deep and rich association with the memory of such spiritual teachers as Buddha, Mahavira, Gorakhnath and Kabeer. The essence of this great tradition is esoteric which teaches us to view all human history, all human achievements.
The Nath culture thought of India has its culmination on the bank of river Rapti where Guru Gorakshnath lived, meditated and left his mortal frame. The region was named after him as Gorakhpur. To his or dent followers he was a Savior and God. Devotees believe Guru Gorakshnath was the incarnation of Lord Shiva and the Adi Guru Gorakshnath. This has given spiritual hue to the entire region. Gorakhpur today is known for its magnificent architecture of the Gorakhnath temple, the gold and silver tajiyas kept in Imambara. Miyan Saheb the Cathedrals and chureher of this 18th and 19th centuries, beautiful, parks named after the revolutionary patriot. Ram Prasad Bismil, Munshi Prem Chand, Pt. Nehru and Govind Ballabh Pant, The Sugarcane Factories, the handloom industry. Now upcoming of GIDA industrial township, the glamorous market of Golghar, Medical College ,Engineering College and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University of Gorakhpur. Art literature and philosophy developed and flourished in the region of Gorakhpur. The name of “Firaq Gorakhpuri” has received recognition and admiration throughout the sub continent. Munshi Prem Chand lived here when he wrote some of his best works. Gorakhpur has the proud of film artist. Abha Dhuliya the father D.P.Dhuliya who was also a renounced artist of Gorakhpur.
The handicraft of Gorakhpur deserve special mention. A small village named Aurangabad near Bhathat is inhabited by versatile craftsmen who design and make terracotta toys of export quality. The unknown hands have earned word wide admiration for the city of Gorakhpur and have received President’s award.
A network of educational institution viz. Regional Engineering College, Institute of Technology and Management of GIDA, Medical College, Govt. and M.P. Polytechnic, Govt. Women Polytechnic etc. provide with opportunities of progress and development.
New residential colonies have sprung up and urban population has greatly increased. However, the region needs further development. The Golghar Shops are beautiful and give modern look to the city. The Town Hall contains the office of the Municipal Corporation and the service station of All India Radio, Doordarshan Kendra specially planned for development of rural region. A chain of Hotels and tourists agencies are coming up with rapid pace. The hotels are comfortable good and well maintained.
Lord Buddha started his earthy career from Lumbini and Piprahwa but closes it in Kushinagar, Lord Buddha’s Mahaparinivan place. Kushinagar is prominent Buddhist center and devofees from various countries visit this place every year. It is stated that Lord Buddha visited this place at the faq end of his life. The present town is also known as Kasiya. Hiugn Tsieng and Fa-hien have recorded their visits to Kushinagar. Government has constructed 88 bed Tourist Banglow for the visitors. Close to Kushinagar is Pawanagar where Lord Mahavir took his last breath.
In the first half of the tweenth century an institution gathered shape which has became quite legendary. It is the Gita Press founded by jai Dayal Goenka and Govind Bhavan Trust. It publishes ancient texts related to Hindustan and the work of Hindu saints at throw-away prices. A specific mention must be made of two periodicals, Kalyan in Hindi and Kalyan Kalpatru in English of which Hanuman Prasad Poddar commonly known as Bhaiji was the founder- editor. To the large number of Indians living out side this country. The mention of Gorakhpur was associated with Kalyan or kalian Kalpatru. Its readership ran into several lakhs. A multi crore project Cancer Hospital has been established to commemorate Sri Hanuman Prasad Poddar and to translate his moral principals into practice. Adjacent to this hospital a massive temple called Radha Krishna Sadhna Mandir is situated. With such cultural heritage and a solid back-ground of peaceful and harmonious social interaction, Gorakhpur is definitely looking for its bright future.
